Howdy, I'm trying to decide which car would be best for my wife. We'll be moving to Alaska soon, so she needs something with 4WD! We also have a Great Dane and three cats that we want to be able to take places (fitting the Great Dane is more important than all four of them together), as well as the ability to tow smaller trailers with my motorcycle inside or when moving with both motorcycles and some of our junk (our move to Alaska will be from VA, and then we plan on moving around the country every 3-4 years probably for the next 15 years at least).
There is an '85 FJ60 in my family that is currently getting lots of work done to make it reliable and give it a couple more creature comforts - H55 transmission, Bluetooth, UV blocking tints, new center console, etc. It has the 2F motor and I think around 100k miles on it.
Alternatively, we've been looking at 4Runners as well.
