I have a rusty HJ60 with 2H diesel 409,000 kms, the A440 auto trans, NO A/C, Dec 1986 build date, 24 volt system. 25 years old and good for US import. I bought it as a parts rig a few years ago. The frame is quite good suprisingly, but body typical of Northern Canada salt/rust disintegration. I drove it for a few days enough to know:
Good: Long-time owner before me, service records since low 100,000 kms (off memory right now) but 1" thick stack of records, oil changes routine each 5000 kms, starts in -10 C not plugged in without issue no cylcing of glow plugs, a bit of blue but clears up quick, gauges work, edic works also. Trans shifts fine. Dash is all there and is in good shape - no cracks. Has valid registration as Can Spec 1986 HJ60. All glass minus windshield good. 4WD works.
Bad: Rear end noisy, body truly crap, inside dirty, cracked windshield, broken leaf front leaf spring. Poor sunroof install from previous owner leaks and contributes to the general dismay. Assume the body is a throw-away.
I really don't know what price is fair - I'm selling as a "PARTS ONLY" rig and really want to sell it complete - ie. won't part it out no time as it is. Would recommend car trailer and not driving home as-is.
I realize the auto is not preferred but the 2H, dash, 24 v electrical system with relays and accessories etc has to be worth something for a Fj60 conversion project somewhere? Having a valid Can reggie would be useful also. Any Alaskan buddies fairly close by?
I robbed a frnt turnsignal assembly but would include another to make as complete as I can (minus the lost rust/body panels)
Asking $1500, that is what I paid for it (right or wrong?!) - can send pics but really, just assume it is a pile of HJ60 parts that may be useful to someone? I will attach a few pics after re-sizing them.
