So my subwoofers are starting to rattle and lose their oomph, so I'm in the market for some new 12's. I'm currently running 2 of these Kenwood's: Kenwood KFC-W3012 12" Single 4 ohm Car Subwoofer

They thump great, and sound amazing. Well, did, until a few days ago when the rattle started. I've had these 2 subs for about a year and a half, and was very pleased with them. I listen to all sorts of music (Everything from Band of Horses to Pink Floyd to Skynyrd to Blink 182...And the occasional rap CD gets played too, I do live by the Spring Break capital) Before that, my friend had them in his heep for a couple years. He had 4 of them, running 1100 watts to each subwoofer, and man did they pound. Considering they stood up to his beatings for 2 years and mine for a year after that, I figured I would just buy 2 more of these. But they were replaced by a new Kenwood woofer. Same product, new cosmetics it seems.

But now I'm torn between buying 2 of these:
Kenwood KFC-W3013PS (KFCW3013PS) 12" Single 4 ohm Performance Sub
And buying these Kicker's:
Pair: Kicker CVR122 12" Dual 2 ohm CompVR Subs (07CVR122 2 Pack)

I've always heard mixed reviews about Kicker subs... Some people swear by them, others curse the name. I'm trying to keep the price below $175 for both 12's (already have the box and an amp). Any other good subs out there anyone would recommend? I'd rather not go the Ebay or CL route... Thanks yall!

well its not what you are really asking (sorry). but for FWIW i am really happy with my Memphis audio 10" shallow mount. good luck with your big box 12's!

If you like tight, accurate and resounding deep frequencies then you owe it to yourself to listen to a JL Audio W7AE. And it is off-road mobile tough! Put one in my LC in 2005 and its just performed great with outstanding durability. Yeah...they cost more but you won't want for better!

There's one of those JL's for sale locally on Craigslist, only the guy is asking some ridiculous amount for his whole system ($500 for one 12, a 750w amp, and a cheapo sealed box). A friend of mine has 2 JL's in his Nissan, and they do sound really good (He has the 10" equivalent of what you have). But before I blew my Kenwood's they sounded great too (not on JL's level, but for the price...). I think I'll just go with what I know sounds works for me. People just keep telling me "oh kicker is the best" yada yada, but my blown Kenwood's thump better than my friend's 2 Kickers (just tested this last night haha, I was surprised).
And yeah my box takes up half my daggum trunk. All the space I gained from taking out my third row was instantly eaten up

From what I have heard the JL W6 series is one of the best SQ subs around. Someday I would like to replace my 'takes up to much space but shakes your vision' JL 15W3 sub with a W6.
