So I made my own coil spacers and they work fantastic, my truck sits perfectly level now. Now the problem that I run into is the fact that about 3 weeks of running them now, my front end shakes really bad when braking (steering wheel and all). Stupid question, but is this due to no castor correction? It drives fine going down the road on any road surface. But I also need to ask if it can be related to the lack of a steering damper and maybe warped rotors? I've put my truck on a neumatic lift and checked all of my bolts, spring plates, coil spacers, tie rods, shock mounts, and sway bar mount, but noting is out of te ordinary. Any help on this subject would be awesome. I also forgot to mention that I'm running a 3.5" OME lift and shocks.

So you are running J springs w/ no caster correction and no steering dampner?

I ran my rig w/o CC for a bit and had no braking/vibration issues.
Sounds like warped rotors or? Maybe slap the steering dampner back on there and see how it does

do you feel it through the brake pedal? If so it is probably rotors. I can't see a coil spacer causing a wobble while braking, but I suppose that its possible. You might have yer alignment checked just as a data point, and you really should get a steering dampner...

Good luck,
Dan

I've fought through this with my lifted/shackle reversed 40. "death wobble " needs 2 things to happen, maybe 3. First, something out of balance, even a very little bit. Maybe even 1 rotor binding slightly. Second, something loose to allow the oscillation or wobble to start. Check rod ends, box, and in my case (and most I think) the knuckle bearing preload. Third, incorrect caster makes it many times worse. Correct caster helps the wheels straighten them selves out. Alot of lifted 40-60 guys run the knuckle bearings slightly tight, especially on a 40. You don't want your front end all crazy on a ride that's as long as it is wide and tall. Just my .02, and it's worth just that. Seth

i've gone through the whole front end, and at this point i've pretty much narrowed it down to the fact that it's my rotors and lack of steering stabilizer. I noticed on my way to work that my braking was a little "splotchy" on the front end and when I slowed down I could feel it grabbing harder in the same place where my steering wheel pulled and my pedal pulsated. I just dont know how rotors couls have gotten bad like this in only a day or two.

I would bet you are right. Rotors and no steering dampner making it worse.

I do not let a tire shop torque down my lug nuts, period. If they do, i go straight home and loosen them and then re-torque them to the proper torque rating. Ever since i have started doing that i have not had a rotor issue.

When I had a bad steering dampner on a 4Runner, I got the death wobble. Also, when my panhard bar bolt was loose on my 80 I got the death wobble. Steering is finicky, if everything isn't tight you'll have problems.

If you ever experience "death wobble" you will instantly understand why it was named as such. This sounds like warped rotors.

"death wobble" is when the axle is wobbling back and forth, trying to rip itself free from the truck. I've never experienced this in a FZJ80, but I had it in my ZJ and I watched it happen on my friends CJ. Scary stuff. It could also be called "poo your pants wobble".
