For PMC friends interested, Jpr Ron, Phil and I will be returning to Death Valley in late April, targeting the Southern end of the park (Panamint Valley, Goler Wash, Mengal Pass). This is looking like a Friday thru Monday trip although our 3rd night will be spent along the Eastern Sierra Hwy 395 (TBD) heading home.
This is a mini truck/Runner/Wagon overland expedition type run including various off shoots into canyons and ruins along the way requiring 4 wheel and high ground clearance.
Plan is rendezvous in Big Pine around noon Friday, enter the park to Panamint Springs, take Panamint Valley road to Ballarat. Hit some ruins to camp that night. Saturday run P Valley road to and thru Goler Wash towards Mengal Pass and camp. Sunday drop into Devil's gold course and exit park for 395 N. Spend final night near Mammoth area (new area to be explored) and easy travel home Monday.
If you are interested (and actually know at least one of us), please feel free to join us on this epic DV run. Very good tires and spare in working order are required, radio is handy if you get lost like Jpr Ron, and 5 gallons of extra fuel is strongly recommended. Oh, Phil notes an extra spark plug is always handy too.
(Dave, please add to the 2017 calendar so we can make this an official club type run including benefits of 8.)
