I've had this Husky 55 for about 20 years and it's worked well over this time but finally died. I had it in the shop for an evaluation and the diagnosis is a scored piston and cylinder at the minimum. A rebuild will be costly, close to the amount of a new chainsaw. I'm not willing to put that kind of money back into it which leaves me with a saw that is at least good for some parts. I don't want to just toss it so any recommendations on how or where to try to sell it as is? Craigslist for sure but are there other outlets?

Jim, those older Huskies are worth the rebuild imo (Made in Sweden). Jug and piston kits can be found on ebay and not that pricey and easy to R&R. I have a 51 that I upgraded to a 55. Shoot me a pm if it needs a home and you want to go new.

Finally got around to purchasing parts and throwing them into the chainsaw. I bought a Meteor cylinder kit, a piston pin bearing, and a few gaskets from H L Supply. Rebuilding was easy but watching these videos was helpful

Engine Rebuild On Husqvarna 55 & 51 Chainsaw Part 3/3

A few pulls on the starter cord and it fired right up.
