I was tailgating yesterday and had the radio on for about 5 hours. As an obvious result, the battery was drained. My friend gave me a jump start and my '99 Cruiser started right up. I let him run for about 10 minutes before we headed home. As I was pulling out of the parking lot, the 'check engine light' began flashing and I felt a bit of a vibration throughtout my truck. This persisted for the next 10 miles until I arrived home. I woke this morning and he started up just fine. However, the vibration and warning light reappeared.

Don't know what to make of this other than being battery related. The Cruiser has always run in tip-top shape. Never hide nor hair of any problems prior to this.

Thought?

#1: Check the voltage of the battery (check the battery isolated and then check when the engine is running). Just the battery should be around 12.6V; with the engine running and the battery cables connected you should be getting somewhere between 13.5-14.0V.

Knock a cable loose during the jump ?

Pull the CEL code and it may give you the answer if this isn't related to the battery problem.

The symptoms sound like a bad coil but 10 minutes after the battery was run dead definately points to the battery.

We'll need some vehicle info. milage ? age of the battery ? type (original OEM Panasonic)? other mods ? ect ... This kind of stuff goes good in the sigline. Hopefully a little bigger than spessomon's microdot type.
