A quick note on a recent trip. Twice a year on the time change we travel down to the Ozark National forest in northwest Arkansas for a 3 day trek style trip. This year was 2 FJ40s and 4 Jeeps.

The terrain is very steep, and varies from granite slabs and rocks to soft mud and many creek crossings. This year it's been very dry, almost 15 inches below normal rainfall. We did get rain in the preceding days, which softened the trails a bit, but they were still hard packed under a couple inches of mud. We don't basecamp, so everything needed for repairs must be on hand at all times. This trip we experienced broken u-joint flange (jeep), broken spring hanger bolt (jeep), tub separating from frame via sheered body mounts (cruiser), 2 side flops (jeeps), 1 stall in deep water (me), etc etc.

The atmosphere is very low key and noncompetitive, with plenty of help/advice availabel for newbies. Those that wish to abuse their rigs also have ample opportunity to do so. I'd love to get some more Cruisers on the trip so if anyone is interested, let me know.

I've posted some cruiser featured shots here:
