anyone up for a daytrip Sunday, Aug. 6th? my birthday is the week before so I am hoping to have some leverage with the wife. I don't really care where, just somewhere close enough for a day trip. I will still go even if there is only 1 other rig w/ me (prefer many more of course). really want to scratch the new hannas. just thought I would throw it out.smit

If I am in town I will most likely be in. I will let you know.

Last weekend before boy scout summer camp #2, but post it up. I may be a last minute addition for just a day trip.

so...anyone want to go anywhere. I got the hall pass and am dying to go somewhere for a day trip. I hear there are some fun trails a little north of LA, San Diego is ok w/ me also, as is the IE. it will just be my wife and I, as mentioned before, I don't mind if it is just one other rig although would love to have as many as possible. you can see my sig. to see what I am working with. it can be a scenic trail or a more challenging..i just want to learn from you guys. kids, dogs, snakes, cats, picnics, etc. are all cool with me. post up if interested.

See my Adopt-A-Trail thread. Any interest from this group on hijacking this day trip to Big Bear to run this trail and guage your guy's interest? The 3N08 trail is very easy and could be done in a morning/afternoon with what's left for another trail.

I'm going to participate in this program either with this group as part sponsor of it or with the SoCal TLCA group. It's a great cause to help the USFS keep these trails we use both clean and open.

My rig is 100% stock.. since i just bought it...

Is 3n08 onyx summit? Im bad with trail numbers. I can never remember them.

If it's onyx summit i should be able to do that no sweat..

I agree with you totally Brent, I am down for whatever. I will leave the final decision to Smitty as it is his day. We can easily pick another day if Smit wants to wheel only on the 6th. Smit?

100% stock rig can handle 3N08 w/o any trouble at all. There's only one little area where I locked up my center and rears just to exercise the rears for fun. Low range only stock is just fine.

It's not a hard trail at all.

I agree totally Mo. Smit, your call. This is your trip and I don't want to hijack it. I spoke with Mark from LA Trail Crew/SoCal TLCA. That's their normal meeting day, so he doesn't know if any of those guys can show up.

We don't even need to work the trail that day. I'd just like to show you the trail, some of the things we discussed with the USFS and even just discuss this group's interest in the Adopt-a-Trail program. I don't really know where any of you stand interest wise. We could just run it, take a couple of stops to show you things and then run another trail. This one is fairly easy.

Change of plans...

I'll be available to participate 8/19-8/20, if we can round up some volunteers. Staying overnight at Hanna Flats with some friendly adopt-a-trail folks.

I might be up for a run, let me know where its going to be.

I think that the Big Bear trail sounds great!! I MIGHT be able to head out early Sat. (3ish) afternoon from the restaurant and do some camping that night....pending the :princess:'s approval of extending the hall pass. Anyone even interested in camping? Maybe we could stay at the spot on "OUR" trail. There is also a great camping spot that my wife and I like in Big Bear also...very high with a great view and very secluded...about 6 miles off the paved road. We would even be interested in some casual biking on some of the trails I hear about up there.

Please don't look at this as "my" day. I am looking at it as "if you plan it, I will come". Being so new to this scene, I need your local knowledge. I am just excited about hanging out with everyone again or for the first time.

Closest campground you can reserve would be Hanna Flats.

I'll be able to find the trail head for 3N08, but beyond that.........

I'm up for a day trip. Best place to meet - two options:
Carls Jr. at the Green River offramp early - say 7.
Fawnskin - in an area right across from the Fire Department as you enter town. The trail head is just up the road from the fire station in Fawnskin as is the Hanna Flats campground.
The free group campsite nearer to the trail head is just on up the dirt road from the Hanna Flats campground somewhere.

I'm up for Carls at 7.

:flipoff2:

Used to golf there regularly - Sat. morning regular tee time - 5 to 6 hr rounds of golf sucked tho! Typical public course time for a weekend.

hahahhaa :flipoff2:

and NO i don't live in a double wide down by the golf course lol... i live up the hill on the opposite side of the fwy

well anyways.. it all depends if i wrench on the cruiser this sunday or not.. i might get my springs this week... dont know yet.

LOL! Forgot about those mobile homes along the par 5 17th on the River course! Houses on the other side ARE nicer (no flaming - I'm not knocking mobile homes!).

BTW as someone who grew up in one they are refered to as "manufactured housing", and they are placed in preplaned "manufactured housing" comunities, and some of the residents can be referred to as manufactured trash. :grinpimp: :grinpimp:
