Guys, I popped a hydraulic line on my dump body insert this past weekend.

I was thinking to take it to Maurice Truck in Claremont to have it fixed. Any advice on this place, or can you recommend another? Local to Claremont or Charlestown? I am in Unity NH.

I would do it myself but by the time I get the 40 up there to winch the bed up and get a look at it, order/find a line and etc., probably looking at a couple/few weeks. I'm thinking to pay a few hundered and have it done in a week may be more wise.

Any advice?

If you popped a rubber line and can take it off yourself, most of the part stores can make one. Maurice is a junkyard, I don't think they do service. Reed's is next door and is small internationl dealer and works on trucks. I would probaly go to Osgood welding. They are real good guys. They sell, install and repair truck bodies. Real good guys. I use them alot. I do't think Osgoods is open on sunday.

Cool, Thanks for the info. Just called over there and they said if they were going to be there Sat. they would look at it, gotta call Fri. to see if they will be there.

I would like to do it myself, but not experienced with hydraulics. Would'nt it need to get bled out? Not sure how to do it. Also, I'm thinking, how the heck I can lift the bed up to get at the hydraulics and motor.

I would like to get it done sooner than dick around with it for a few weeks...

I will have the 40 up soon, so I could use the winch to lift the bed and get the line off/asses it. May end up going that route.

Aw shoot...I should just do it myself and figure it out.

I should be able to figure out a way to rig a highlift to lift the bed and git at it...

you may be able to get to it reaching up through the frame. It will bleed it self out as you use it.

That's a thought...I will try it. But, it is a bed insert, in a pickup bed, so on second thought, that won't work. Anyways, I will figure a way to lift it, or not.

 Thanks for the help...

Used the winch in the 40 to lift it.

Got it fixed. Was inexperienced with the hydrolics, but it is good now.
Figured out that the nipple for the end of the line was precariously close to the scisor joint on the lift.
When extreme heavy loads were put in the bed it was crushing the end of the hose.
I changed it to a 90deg. fitting and put some blocks to keep it from bottoming out.

Working now. Thanks for the advice and clueing me in that a lot of shops can make up a hydro line cheap. I have hauled some succesful loads now. Thanks...
