Hello.

On my 2017 200, I am looking to remove the small wood trim strip located to the left of the steering wheel.

It probably just pops off with a little prying. Maybe? I could just start forcing it, but I figured it would be better to ask to see if anybody knows for sure before I break anything. Does anybody know?

I am planning on mounting the long skinny Auxbeam switch panel that should fit perfectly in that space.

Thank you.

Start below that piece. Remove the kick plate near you left foot driving position and start working your way up. The trim below that piece will Come off as one piece (below the steering wheel) and you’ll likely see some brackets that need pulling, etc for it. HTH.

Also, take a lot of pics before you start. And keep doing that as you go for reference.

I think the wood trim piece and the lower panel are combined into the same part. You may be able to remove the whole panel and separate or cut the wood piece out, though.

Can you please post a pic of the long skinny Auxbeam switch panel?

I believe that wood trim is attached to the upper panel, as I've had the lower off, and you must of also to install the RedARC brake controller there.

Wow. Thank you for the replies. I appreciate your input. I love good communities like this where people take their own time to be helpful to a stranger. Thanks.

I was hoping only the little strip of wood grain trim would just snap off, making things easier than taking off all the larger panels.

The brake controller came from before my time. The previous owner did that. Other than a grab handle phone mount, this will be my first mod.

Here is the requested pic.

Thanks again.

Can you post up some photos once you get it installed, and tell us your impressions? That looks like a good solution.
