Driving to work today at 4:30 in the morning, my dash Lights went out. No problem must be the fuse since everything went dead at once. So I continue on to work, 2hr drive all in the dark, it is kinda of annoying not to have dash lights to check gauges and temps, so I use cabin light ever now and then just to check. So after I get to work I check the fuse, it is fine. I check the dash lights and everything works fine. I have no idea where to start looking but I must have problem brewing. Has this happened to anybody else.

Thanks

Check the dimmer swich, you can bypass it pretty easily.

Just got done messing with the Dimmer switch, everything seems to be working fine. Is it possible that if the dimmer switch is going bad that it could cause the lights to go dark without even messing with it.

I had/have this same problem. I pulled the rheostat and put some WD40 in there and really worked it and that didn't do anything. And then all of the sudden, it started working. And then one day I was driving and they went out again.

The weird thing is that I'll be driving and the lights will go out, but after leaving it overnight they'll turn on first thing in ther morning everytime. It seems like it has to sit awhile before working again. Strange. Possibly a grounding problem? I looked over the FSM and thought maybe there's no contact being made on the turn on switch/blinker and considered disassembling it, but looks kind of dangerous due to all the little springs and such. Don't have an extra on hand as a security blanket.

If anyone could offer up some advice on this I'd appreciate it also.

Happens to me all the time. All I have to do is turn the dimmer switch and they come back on. Vibrations must cause my knob to turn slightly, thus turning off the dash lights.

I believe the dimmer to be 'electronic'; there's a capacitor in it.....
replace & it will be fine ( find local ham radio person if ya need assistance)

I just bypassed mine

haven't gone out since!!!

Must have been the problem

I had the same problem and when it happen I would just turn off my light and back on really quick and the dash lights would come back on. I think my problem was a loose connection somewhere.
