Spray a little Lysol (or some kind of disinfectant) into the carpet. I'd just use the steam cleaner with some oxyclean. Once you know where the leak is would be the right time to replace or fix gaskets. It might end up being something really simple.

The carpet and pad are now dry. I am going to soak them with a solution of borax and vinegar to kill the mold. Then I will shampoo them with oxyclean.

I did not have any lysol on hand but had several gallons of listerine that I use for a kennel spray. I poured some in those vents on the hood and now my a/c does not have that stinky moldy smell.

Maybe it will never rain again and I wont have a leak anymore

I think you and I had talked about oxyclean before and you knew you had to rinse with cold water before you're done.

I would visit the car wash and watch while someone gives a good spray. Maybe take some of your panels off for visual inspection.

If it never rains again all of the plants and grass will be sad. :frown:

Should I take the panels off before going to the car wash? I will try that either today or Wednesday. There is a small chance of rain so that means it will probably pour.

They are pretty easy to take off and it may make it easier to pinpoint the leak depending on where it is.

I don't want to jinx it but ....

so far NO MORE LEAK!!!

Bret J. found where it was leaking last week at the carwash. He fixed it using Kevin's suggestion of inserting clear vinyl flexible tubing into the tired weatherstripping around the rear hatch to plump it back up.
Total cost for materials......$1.95 at Lowe's.
Expert installation by a generous cruiserhead......priceless.
