In preparation for a disk brake swap I'm pulling some FJ62 knuckles apart. Now the problem that I am having is the birf won't come off the inner axle. Is there an easy way to pull it off. I tried hammering it off with a drift but no luck to far. Its out of the axle and the housing is long gone so the pipe trick doesn't seem like an option. I just don't want to damage the joint. Does anyone have any suggestions?

take a pipe longer than the inner and a little larger diameter, put the inner in it(vertical) and bang it on the floor hard. It should pop right off.

i lay the inner on a 4x4, stand on it, and put a big brass drift against innerbirf race and they pop off with one or two whacks....

x2, except I just lay in on the ground and smash the bell with a sledge...away from the inner axle. Bobby longfield does it the same way and taught me that trick. Course...he works with cryo...

Yeah, this was how I learned to do it. I read about it on Pirate several years ago.

Thanks for the response guys. I didn't have a brass drift so I used the pipe and it worked great. Took me all of two minutes to get both off.
