Here again...
Hello all,
I dropped a 20 or so pound spool of .035 wire and trashed the plastic reel. Is this something I toss out or is there some way to salvage the wire?

David

Is the reel a total write-off? Is there any way at all it will mount on the spindle? Can you jury-rig a side plate on the reel to keep the wire on? If you had a couple of mounts and a handle on an empty reel you could hand crank and transfer the wire to a better reel. It would take a long time and you'd have to keep it very neat.

Just throwing ideas out there......

Good luck.

I would go with a drill rather than hand crank for the transfer method.

I would probably keep what you've got, buy another spool of wire and have your trashed spool for backup. When you need it at 10pm on a saturday over the holidays, it won't seem so bad to have to spool some up.
