Dakar Rally 2009 in South America!

I just checked out the Dakar rally for 2009 and see that it will be in Argentina and Chile.

After they cancelled the 2008 rally due to terrorist activities I was very disappointed since this is one event I look forward to every year. I am very excited about this years race with the new countries and challenges to see, but think that they should call it something else and still have the true Dakar event.

It is sad that they had to move it from North Africa where the countries there really need the economic stimulus that this event brings.

I too was bummed they cancelled it this year too. It should prove to be very interesting indeed with the new locations and terrains. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Silly thing is Terrorists can do thier insane Radical Islamic (Not all Islam) deeds pretty much anywhere given the time. I don't see the race being in the same geographical area on a consistant basis for along time. But who knows.
