Hey y'all, I've got a 99 toyota tacoma.....I'm feeling a lot of vibration in the Front end and when braking. I just replaced brakes and rotors so that's not the issue. Wheel bearings seem tight but the inner parts of both cv axles have ALOT of play but none on the outer part. I'm guessing that's gotta be the issue. HELP

Thanks

For some dumb reason where the cv shaft slides into the housing you get a lot of play. Google it. I had mine rebuilt and the damn thing, with brand new Toyota parts, still has some play in it.

If you go to Toyota and crawl under q new tacoma, they have play.

Check the balance on your tires, alignment, and double check the wheel bearings.

Not to be rude. But if you just replaced some brake components, and now you have vibrations while braking, it could very well be some of the parts/work you did/had done. Rotors that are warped would be the main culprit. I would start by removing the front wheels and inspecting the brake system. See if the rotors have intermittent drag any as you spin it by hand(wheels on for this).

Did you rotate the tires, too?

Does it have ABS?

Everything's all new on the front and rear end, brake wise.

New or not, doesn't mean something isn't wrong with it. If you only feel the vibration under braking, then it's most likely the brakes. Give it a go in 4hi and see how that does. Also, while you're in 4hi, brake hard enough to make it 'vibrate' while you apply some throttle. This will allow the CVs to stay in a bind. Go back to 2hi and try it again appling the throttle. Compare the two attempts and if the 'vibration' doesn't change, it's the brakes.
