I have to replace my CV axle. They have 167k and have never been replaced. I plan on doing a 2-3 inch suspension lift and I want to refurbish the stuff that is worn out. I am doing the Lower control arms, Uppers, and I need to do the CV axles. I know RVC has a set, but they are really expensive. I would maybe like something more durable than OEM, but I would go with OEM if its the best option. What do you guys think the best CV Axle to go with is? Are there any HD aftermarket ones worth buying?

Thanks,

Mark

Stick with OEM.

Oem is the best option right now. Search for RVC on here and you can see what a fiasco that was for Spressoman. And those that have run the other aftermarket options have usually gone back to oem.

Another vote for OEM. Replaced mine last weekend.
My first set lasted 240K miles, so I'm guessing my new pair will be OK for a while. Too many horror stories around the other options. The only reasonable alternative I've seen is a rebuild service in Utah that does a nice job, but that involves a longish remove/pack/ship/rebuild [2 day turn]/ship/replace cycle.

OEM......cheap option as if you go TOO TOUGH then you risk breaking diff instead...cv much better option and if OEM lasts 150-200k then you will only have to do it once for average life of the cruiser. I just replaced both of mine.......figure they are tough enough.

i just bought a pair of OEM's, they aren't cheep! Im going to hold off putting them on even though the CV's are starting to squeak over every little bump. my wheel well is covered in grease

If your CVs are suspect, install the new axles. A CV failure on the highway can be dangerous business.
