burn valvues or get the cops on me?

cops. have you ever heard a car with no muffler? i know multiples who have gotten tickets for that.
about the valves i do not now

im not to woried bout the cops here they are more interested in the drunk cllege kids.

the valvues will be the determining factor

and when i get the money fr a muffler ill weld it on.

I think you'd drive yourself crazy before you got a ticket...

is it really that loud?

anyne got info o backpressure and valve burn?

god advice, just cut it and it sounds great with my header.

nt to loud and has a nice grummble:D

I bottomed out my 62 and broke the input off the muff and I was just going to leave it. 20 miles latter and a migraine I parked it and welded it after it cooled.

No problems. The stock cat is a pretty good muffler, as long as there is still a complete tailpipe to the rear of the truck. I ran a 60 for a year or two like that, until everything else rusted off.

Not true in this case.
FJ60's are jetted fat from the factory. Losing the muffler will give a miniscule increase in airflow through the engine engine, which will drive the mixture a teeny bit toward lean, but it will still be richer than ideal. Nowhere near lean enough to burn a valve.

what if i didnt leave the pipe all the way to the back of the truck??

just fix it

The new Toyota muffler/tail pipe assembly costs $113 at your local dealer. Get some PB blaster, spray all the bolts and nuts, and install it yourself. Or pay somebody with a rack $50 to do it. You will need a jack and some blocks to get the body up high so that you can thread the muffler/tail pipe assembly over the rear axle. Also, there is a good chance that you will need to replace the isolators (rubber vibration isolators) on the tailpipe hangers. SOR has them for cheaper than the dealers. Perhaps CDan can do you a good price. It is a struggle to do, but you can do it.

Then it is a little too rumbl-ey for my delicate hearing.:princess:

And possibly stinky.

Like worm said, the OE complete rear system is $87 at your nearest dealer w/ 25% TLCA discount. You might need to buy some OE rubber isolators also, but they are well worth it for making a quick, proper installation.

My friend has a Chevy 350 with no exhaust from the headers back. You can hear him comming from a mile away and he's never had a problem with the cops. I'd cut it off, cats too depending on state laws. You can get around those laws by hollowing out your cats if you want it really loud.
