Yes ... my Cruiser's sold. Hopefully it'll be gone this weekend. Get over it. :meh:

No ... I ain't buyin' 'nother Ty-ota.

That is correct ... therefore, I no longer qualify to be a member of TLCA. :whoops:

But ... BY GAWD! ... I will do my damdest to maintain the integrity of this here club until the day I die. And I hope somebody has the friggin' decency to pry the torch outta my cold fingers ... and take over when I do die.

I've said from the get-go that this club's 'bout the people ... not the trucks. I ain't never gave up on y'all so please don't give up on me.

I might have to show up at a few runs in a rental car ... but we've always allowed that. In fact ... we've encouraged it. Don't matter what you show up in ... just show up. Well Folks ... now that's gonna have to apply to me too.

Hopefully I'll have my new rig done by the spring ... until then ... please remain calm ... and this too shall pass.

:flamingo:

As long as it has lots of tube in it and being pulled by a massive motorhome with a small bed for me, you can do anything you please. Oh, and it has to have that one great word on it somewhere, JEEP. God I love it. Later,

OK everyone, move on, nothing more to see. No need in discussing it. We'll see it when we see it.

Later,

I wonder where and what you would be doing right now without the TLCA and these Toyotas you suddenly seem to despise.........
I wonder what happened to the guy that wrote this.......
Butch

Well, I'm finally done driving. Back in Manhattan for a week or so. For those of you that might be curious, between the trusty ole' company truck and my big ole' Dodge, this trip was 5569 miles. I ain't got no purdy pictures but I do have a tale to tell. Let's just call it "A Moment in Time: Moab style."

Monday, April 26. Top end of Pritchett Canyon. We needed a tool. Not an ordinary or common tool ..... a special tool. We weren't sure exactly what it was for and we had no idea what it looked like, but, By Gawd, we knew we needed it. Tough to find somethin' when you don't what it is. Used process of elimination. Went through all the tool boxes looking for something we couldn't identify. Kris had a couple of contenders but tp knew what they were, therefore, must not be what we're looking for. Ain't got no special tool. Don't seem to know much about the special tool. Only one solution .... we needed The Wise One. We quickly dispatched Havis and his faithful ballast unit, Chris, in The Beater along with CodePig in Tripod on a mission from God to seek-out, and return with, The Wise One. So there we sat. Four people caught in a moment in time, linked together by circumstances none could have forseen. My junk was all beat to Hell. Rascal's junk was broke. Weren't nuthin' wrong with tp's or Kris' junk. They just stayed 'cause it was the right thing to do. Together in the midst of that beautiful canyon, we shared water, food, some DAMN fine conversation, and one helluva sunset. About five hours later, over the rise come The Wise One in the Stars and Stripes with (2) headlights, (2) off-road lights, and (4) friggin' rocklights all blazin'. (ya reckon The Wise One's afraid of the dark?) Havis ridin' shotgun doin' the navigatin' thang. In the confines of the Stars and Stripes were parts and pieces, warm clothes, water, food (why yes, I actually do consider Honey Buns and Donut Sticks to be viable forms of food products), and , of course, one very special tool. Silly lookin' little thing but it did indeed prove to be necessary. [Note: A real rescue party would of had some damn beer!] Out with the old s***: in with the new. Day run now a night run. Got to camp at 2:15 A.M. Most Excellent!
As a wayfaring stranger by trade, I felt somethin' that night in that canyon that I ain't experienced in many, many years. I belonged. At that time.... that place, and especially with those people, was exactly where I was meant to be. We all gather up a few times a year under the clever disguise of being a truck club. More to it then the junk we drive. I'd like to think the friendships we've made will still be around long after the trucks are done gone. Just some deep thoughts from a shallow mind. Ya'll be safe.

... these Toyotas you suddenly seem to despise ...

Where'd that come from?

I sold mine and it doesn't look like my next rig will be another one. But I've always liked Land Cruisers ... and I always will. Also like old Broncos, Scouts, Jeeps, etc. though. I've never been the Ty-ota nazi that badmouths everything else. I like cool trucks ... Period.

Thanks for bringin' up that old post on Pirate ... what a great night that was.

Like I said back then ... "I'd like to think the friendships we've made will still be around long after the trucks are done gone. Just some deep thoughts from a shallow mind."

Bruce's truck's done gone. tp's truck's done gone. Now my truck's done gone.

... and I really enjoyed seein' Bruce and tp at Katemcy this year. Happy to still call 'em friends.

Well, there's a lot of stuff going on on this thread.

1. Current state of the WToE...

2. The fact that our fearless leader, an icon on the Land Cruiser community, don't have a Land Cruiser is a statement of it's own.

3. I perceive that there's a lil' to no interest on still be a member of the TLCA(kowboy).

I know sometimes there's a need for changes, and god knows what's going to happen tomorrow.

Like our fearless leader said so " the WT is about the people and not the trucks"

I have seen tha! I have enjoyed the company of all of you, and yes including our fearless leader!

In my experience My family and I felt pretty good been part of the WT last June.
We attended to the Superlift OffRoad Park in Hot Springs to the nonevent, unsanction etc. etc.
The WT was the club that cover the north border(Woody) and the south border(we, the Mexicans. Wife and kids).

That event was canceled and the Cotton Land Cruiser and The WT still showed up with a large amount of Trucks, and some of them weren't Cruisers.

Now the amosphere was the same as a TLCA event. It was just too bad that they, the TLCA, did not participate on this one.

Due to my location I can't participate and some other event that are organized or sanctioned by the TLCA

...Now I do plan on continue showing up to the 3 or 4 events required by the WT in order to maintaing my membership.

Most Mes'kins don't say much ... can we trade you for one of them?? :flipoff2:

:flamingo:

You're talking and describing our board members(THE MEXICANS) there sir! (Company is own by the Union Pacific Rail Road and The Fed. Govt. of Mexico)

...the fact I belong to this here club makes me a different type of Mes' kins

... you just don't have any Mexican as part of the WT!

Sheesh!

Y'all supposed to drink your beer, not cry in it.
Times are tough and TLCA is close to folding it's tent and slinking back to California to lay low for a while.

It's never been about the trucks. It's always been about the people.
'nuff said.
Nick

My TLCA membership is due to be renewed, will I be wasting my money?

Expect little and you will not be disappointed.

Mr. President, with beer in hand, I salute you once again! I think you made a good decision to let the cruiser go. It was kind of a shell that both you and the WT have grown out of. None of your friends are gonna refuse to 'play' with you because you don't have an LC, but it'll sure make it easier for us to heckle you!;p

My bonds to my fellow WT members are my strongest bonds in the TLCA, and that includes you, Toy or not. And FWIW, your rig played absolutely NO PART in my decision to drive to TX...TWICE this year. And it will not play a part next year either.

I do however, see the irony that you just recently named your rig 'A Horse with No Name.' I will refrain from sharing that irony publicly.

Until we meet again...

:flamingo:

My TLCA membership is due to be renewed, will I be wasting my money?

Not on my watch, no way no how. In fact what we are doing is creating MORE value for membership. We do have plans for whether things go up (as we expect) or down, but you won't be wasting your money. We got a BUNCH of exciting irons in the fire, and several that are about ready to brand.

Give me a call any time (303) 674-2386 (the number is in Toyota Trails).

Kowboy, you are good man and I also like all kinds of cool trucks, and especially the people who drive them. Like you.

Butch, that post was awesome. I remember that night too. I was back in camp, but shared the recounting of the adventure when you all got back.

Good times, good people.

Happy cruisin'! my friends!
