Hey All-
Thanks everyone who showed up at the meeting! I'll be sending a newsletter out in the next week or so with some event updates and other news.

I just wanted to remind you that we are planning a crusin' coffee trip this month. We will meet at Slice O Life Bakery (http://goo.gl/maps/9sz1d) in Palisade at 10:00 for a quick cup and a baked good and proceed to head out promptly at 10:15. We will travel to De Beque (~20 min via interstate 70) and then into the area behind the Book Cliffs. We'll explore the wild horse area, bronco Flats, Spear Hunter Road and the Goblins. This will be a mild day of wheeling and photographing so anyone in a stock vehicle will do great. I hope to see you there and let me know if you think you'll make it.

It was a fun and interesting trip to an area I knew nothing about (don't hear me say that very often). Jonathan knows that area well and did a great job pointing out things of interest and adding some history. Kyla thought it was cool that we had two other goldens along.

I think the trip was a great example of the benifit of a CB. It was a considerable amount of miles and CB kept things interesting and kept us awake. Now for the HAM license. I did a quick search and for those who are just getting into it and don't want to hardwire anything, this is a great option. CB allows you to be more intouch with the group and get the most out of your trip.

I went a similar route with my Midland. I use it with the battery pack ATV'ing as much as I use it in the FJ, definitely a great bang for the buck. The Midland does not come with an external Magmount antenna though.

I was going to post something about the need for CBs but Jonathan beat me to it. On this run we had 3 radios and 3 rigs without. We discussed many interesting topics but my favorite was the discussion on horse poop. When we entered the wild horse area we noted how they always seem to poop in the same spot in the center of the road making big piles of HS. Seems there might be a lesson there somehow. We also discussed the color. Lots of red seemed to indicate a diet with some red berries. See what interesting topics are missed w/o a radio. Gotta get you one!
