Try not to cringe to much. A PO patched the front of the hood with aluminium ducting tap and bondo. Twenty minutes later this is what I have.

LOL! Yes I know.. I started laughing. Now I have to cut out the crunchy stuff and use some sheet metal to weld in the ugly.
On a positive note, you’ll have more airflow through the engine bay. 😊
