thanks for sharing the pics Randy, is it true that the 40's in Japan are a highly sought after items ?

I would say that US FJ 40 will bring big bucks here. Some reason they (Japanese) love gassers. Go figure!

wayne, do you ever see any of those lhd units in the auctions to import? or are typically only the good ones rhd. if they were lhd then they would not be JDM. but still maybe in Japan.

I don't mind the idea of rhd. but my wife is dead set against it. I would pay for a lhd if one ever came availible. my wife grew up in a rhd country, so she has driven them. but not on the oppisite side of the road. anyhow.....

nice pics pactoy!

The (potentially) good part about it is that if the LHD vehicle was originally from the US then you "shouldn't" have to wait 15/25 years to (re-)import back to the US(or Canada, too, I imagine).

As for driving on the "wrong" side of the road... I learned how to drive in the US and now been driving in Japan for five or so years. I have been driving RHD vehicles, but have driven my father's LHD Volvo a few times.

I can drive his car no problem, but I do prefer driving RHD vehicles in Japan. I tend to get close to the side of the road unintentionally and narrow streets and small intersections in Japan could make the driving LHD experience a little more interesting/dramatic once in a while.

I do not, however, think that to be that big of an issue in N. America though.

Just my $0.02

As you can see those are not j-spec cruiser. Those two pictured were bought at a auction from a US Marine base. They were made to US standards or there abouts for the US military for the 1st Gulf war. Japans contribution to the war effort.

The US Marines brought them back to Japan to use as utility vehicles. When they get high maintenance they go on auction.

Randy,

Thanks for the pics. :)

Looks like you've got cool places you can go wheeling in Okinawa.

How long are you here/there for? Any plans of getting (back) to the mainland (Japan) again in the near future?

Mot

You know I thought when I came to Okinawa from Yamaguchi that I would not be able to wheel anymore. I was so wrong. The trails are tough and the wheelin buddies are great.

I don't know how long I will be here. Atleast at a minimum I will be for almost another two years. Will I make it back to mainland? No clue, but I will do some cruiser meetings this year. Maybe I will see you there! I'll be yelling MOT, MOT, where are you, okie dokie!

Randy,

I'm hoping that I would get my hands on an old Cruiser in the future, so getting together would be definitely cool. :)

You are an early riser, eh? :D

I'm in Shizuoka, btw.

You didn't see my other thread? Take a look and see what I just picked up this past Sunday! Old cruisers here are very hard to come by. To much rust from the salt air.

I'm on gov't time. 24hrs at a time. If all is quiet I get some down time to lurk on mud.

Anytime you come to Oki just let me know. I got a place for you to stay and we hit the trails every Sunday.

Nice pics of the new cruiser---How about a little mud on it?? Hope your vacation is going well and the young one is doing good. Me and Larry broke into Yomitan the other night--about 0200. Good hole going in!!

For those not in the loop, Yomitan is a whore house outside of Naha.

Mostly they have old mama-sans suitable for the Marines whom Randy tells me are not to discerning as long as it is breathing.

Sparky,

Everything is going well. Just picked up my son from Orlando and it is great to see him. Sparky, I can only understand a few words that he says as everything he says is in Dutch now. However, we do have that father-son thing going on and I wouldn't miss it for the world.

I will leave Florida on the 12th and arrive in Okinawa on the 13th. Do you guys need me to bring anything back from the land of the great PX?

Take Care,

Randy
