Back from my work trip to Nelson and Fernie. Man, do we ever need to plan a trip out that way one summer! Anyways, I spotted a couple Cruisers (all 40s) for sale. Rob, that blue 40 in Midway is still sitting with a for sale sign off the highway. Also, saw a nice looking red 40 with a for sale sign on a side road junction just over the Kootenay River bridge on the way into Nelson. I also followed a very nice green BJ40 into Rock Creek but had to pass him on the hill. You can only go so slow in a Nissan Safari. :flipoff2:

Over 5000 kms in 3 weeks and she's still running strong. Although, I can't say the same for my back and butt. :frown: I am really wishing I hadn't gone with medium springs and heavy duty OME shocks. I am going to have to add some steel plate soon to soften out the ride.

John, you really need a Land Cruiser! ;) I have 28 year old stock seats, OME Heavies. Drove to Northern California and back in July, no air conditioning or radio... that's 109.4 degrees in the truck.
109 degrees southern Oregon.webp

I have nice cold AC :) - except on the big hills - which sure beats natural airflow for cool. But I sure would love a set of those suspension seats which some cruisers have. US highways have BC highways beat hands down for smooth ride. That section of Highway 3 from Cawston to the top of the Richter Pass is like riding a poggo stick. I wonder where all that gas tax money is going - especially the additional 3% which was supposed to be for highway upkeep. There are tire size holes all over the place and we haven't even got to winter yet. :bang: Actually, I prefer driving on compact snow as it tends to smooth out the road.

ditch the heavy OME shocks. I've run heavies once and it was enough to damage my internals. The medium coils should be fine

I put nitrogen in my tires - it seemed to smooth the ride out for me.

1981 BJ42
2.5" OME Dakkars (not heavies)
33x15x9.5 BFG A/T

Not an option if you are airing down and airing up with any frequency - unless you carry a nitrogen tank.

My current set-up rides very nice when loaded with the family and all our gear. But I think Steve is right. The HD OME shocks are not body friendly when running with a light load. However, the MD were a 3 week wait and I was told the heavies weren't that harsh. Then again, the person who told me had a winch bar and a heavy plate rearr bar in the back plus a 140L long range tank. I wanted something that would take loading and that's what I got. Next ones will probably be a set of Procomps. I hear they are Caddy soft. :steer:

I run heavies for the SAG factor, also being grossed at close to 6000lbs in a middy
