Hi All,

Long time lurker. Have had a couple of Landy Discoveries - and mysteries (like why won't this thing start?!)

Been a land cruiser fan for a long time but they have always been just outside my budget.

Well... Looks like I may have found my first "cruiser". Thought I'd share some details with the crowd to gauge feedback and advice.

Intentions: semi DD, dog mover, overland-tourer for two, motorcycle hauler, dad wagon.

So, now to the truck.

2000 LX, 300K Miles, one owner (RE Agent), california truck, recent timing belt, semi-compete service history, decent interior, no rust, garbage 20" rims and tires, reupholstered front seats, has third row seats and "all weather" mats.

Brought it in for a pre purchase inspection at my local most liked toyota specialist. Will have the findings tomorrow AM. Initial convo with mechanic indicates no major issues.

Will relay full findings tomorrow.

Wondering if 5.7-6K USD sounds about right?

Found a set of LC take off rims and tires for $320 locally too..

Feedback and rover flaming expected. Pic of the prospect below.

Interesting- one owner, and well cared for it appears. Pull the VIN on the Lexus owners website to find history.

Too many threads to count recently on what you need to inspect on the rig-you'll be able to make an informed decision in short order.

Cheers!

Locally there is a 2000 LX with 200k for $4500 obo but this is in South Florida, the market isn't as high down here for the LC/LX. I think at 300k, 6k is on the high end but that is a nice looking truck.

Does sound too bad if the service history checks out. There also shouldn't be a big demand for one with 300k, so I would start with a real low offer and wait to see if they bite.

I bought a cheap LX and I am paying for it. I mean, doing all the maintenance that someone didn't bother with for years. I'd pay for a full pre inspection at Lexus or Toyota to determine what expenses are lurking in the near future: Rack and Pinion= $$$ AHC= $$$$ Tuneup=$$

Congrats and welcome over from the 'dark side', the truck looks in clean condition hopefully the service history is OK....

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: With good service records, minimal rust, and a clean bill of health from a trusted LC mechanic, I would not hesitate to buy one with 300k on it. Definitely check the health of the AHC system, steering rack, and to be safe make sure the coolant T's have been changed recently. As for that pricing, it sounds a little high but not too off base. I'd probably want to end up somewhere around $5k so you can negotiate accordingly.

Good luck, and be sure to keep us posted.
