After 4 months of having my Cruiser sit, some issues have come about. I love cars and rucks, but mechanics is not my forte. So, if would have known that these issues could happen form sitting, then I would have been more proactive. A few issues I need direction are, the power steering pump is Whining A LOT and my pullies are squeaking a lot too. I was told theres a small chance that the PS pump could just have air in the lines and it may push out. if this is the case, how long does that take? Also, I was told that the rust on the pullies may wear off too, but I may have to replace all of the pullies and that could cost a lot of money. if that is the case, how much are we talking here?
Is it difficult to replace the PS pump in the drive way for someone who has never worked on an engine? I never heard the PS making the noise while driving, only when turning, until last night. I could hear it under acceleration too. Another issue, which has seemed to go away, is the loud electronic noise from my speakers. I was told that could be my alternator.

Shortly after my last deployment, my cruiser was doing the same. At first I thought it was the power steering pump. Ultimately, it was the idler tensioner pulley. After time, it doesn't keep enough tension on the accessory belt and allows it to loosen up. when the belt is loose it will chirp or whine. The part is around $120 I believe, plus a new accessory belt ($40) if you use Toyota parts (recommended). If you want to diagnose the issue, you could buy a automotive stethoscope and listen in on the PS pump, AC compressor, the pulleys. I did it my self with the help of the how to thread. If you don't have the tools or know how, buy the parts from Beno and take it to a shop.

Crisis averted. The pulley noise went away and I simply added PS fluid. Dumb***. LOL
