Jman's junk was whining like that - had a thread about a week or so ago. I'm not sure if he ever did figure it out (but he had a new clutch put in, and that was part of the concern.)

Does it whine only under power and in gear? If you're sitting there with the clutch in/out and out of gear, can you rev the engine and reproduce that whine? That could help you narrow it down.

yeah i saw that thread, but Jman never said what it was or if it continued etc.

i have not tried it while in neutral...good idea (for once). :flipoff2:
 
well it makes the whining sound while in neutral if i get it up to the 2000rpm mark +. so i guess i can rule out the tranny and clutch. it must be something under the hood i guess.

Could be belts or the fan clutch reacting to the cold. Did you ever get your alt fixed? Isn't that thing new? I wonder if that's what's whining?

Time to move back to TX, Pat, your truck isn't dealing with the winter well. (Conversly, my truck runs GREAT when it's cold. It hates hot weather. :confused: )

yeah i replaced it with a mg about a month ago. i was thinking it could be the culprit too, as Pimp's crapped out on him after a month, but i'll be so pissed if it is....

yeah, we need to trade 60s until i move back down there....speaking of which if things work out i'll probably be moving back to Dallas at the end of this year or possibly sooner. Not thrilled about Dallas, but I would rather be in Dallas than IL.

there's still a little bit spinning around in there if it's in N and the clutch is engaged, nothing spinning with the clutch in, unless you're rolling, of course...but not as much stuff.

Keep me updated on the move. If you get down here, maybe you can motivate me to get my ass to a TLCA meeting or something.
