When we were at Funnel Lake/Coyote Flats we found a great - dare I say Perfect- camp spot to host a large event similar to Cruise Moab. I was thinking we could invite other TLCA California chapters to participate in the planning and participation of it, and it would be open to all TLCA clubs.

The camp spot we found is in an ideal location to hit quite a few trails and lakes for fishing or hiking.

thoughts? ideas?

I like it. I think we should do it!

One thing the rising sun guys do is to make sure to be able to secure the campsite/main event areas way in advance. Can that site near Funnel be reserved?

Call me selfish, but the area is so cool, I don't want everyone to know, especially now that I finally got there. NIMBY ism !!!
The whole "that place is too crowded nobody goes there anymore" mentality.

The idea is great, it will be a lot of work to be successful. Maybe starting smaller and inviting the LA group or the nor cal group would be a good idea. I believe once your group exceeds a certain number it will require permits and insurance.

Actually just look up special use permits for non commercial activities in the Inyo Forrest.

Inyo National Forest - Event/Commercial Permits

As long as it is less than 75 people and no fees are charged. Then no insurance or permits.

great info already! is there an "easy" way to reach out to other clubs en masse? Or will I need to contact each chapter one at a time? Is there a misfit club I should avoid? (hah)

with that many people (75) i'm wondering if a large group remote camp is a good idea.

There’s a chapter POC listing in the back of your TLCA magazines with email addresses and phone numbers .

None of the area can be reserved as far as I can tell. Or, I wouldn't know where to start if one was to reserve something.
