Ok I have been reading up on crawl boxes and getting them into cruisers. Question: You can get the gears for the the 19 spline case so that they are lower (4.7), but what case do you need to do the dual setup? Everywhere I read it says that the mini truck TC is used. All the crawl boxes I have seen put in on here either were bought complete or never said which case they used for the adapter. I know this isnt the forum to ask but I figured one of you knew the answer.

The real reason I ask is because tomorrow I am heading to TN to collect all the parts to do a 4spd swap on the 80. I have found an 85 fj60 as the donor and the guy is throwing in an extra TC he has no use for. That will leave me with 2 FJ60 TC's and 1 FJ80 TC. From talking to and reading Matts (bhmmappings) swap the toybox might lengthen the driveline enough to shorten the rear drive shaft close to factory so I wanted to do the research and start setting money aside for it and planning its build while I am getting ready to do the manual swap.

the toybox is the front half of a mini truck case with an adapter front and back. you can get it in a 4.7 or 2.x gearing. There is no reason to do the lower split case gears + the toybox. Marlin Crawler sell the toybox. You can also do an NP203 doubler with the mudrak adapters.

Wasnt planning on doing the lower gears into the existing(fj60 TC) transfer case. I just wanted to make sure I had to go out and get a mini truck gear driven TC instead of one of the Cruiser cases I had laying around.

BTW Matt have you noticed the difference in low range going from the 2.488:1 in the FJ80 to the 2.276:1 in the fj60? I know its not a lot but every little bit helps when you really need it.

look at bamableach's fj40 build. He built a toybox, most people buy the whole deal from marlin if I understand correctly. I didn't realize the hf2a had that low of a low range gearing. I am still 10% under stock with the lower gears in the h42 but that is interesting. If you could find out if the output shaft on the h42 was the same spline count as an a440 you could probably cut it down and use it with the 80 transfer case. I like the split case but lower low range for free would be nice too.
