A friend of a friend has a toyota crate "short block" (his words) that he supposedly paid $2200 for. Can anyone confirm that this would be the price from the factory (or from toyota usa)? I'm probably going to go take a look at it. In his words, he's desperate and wants to sell, so I'm thinking of making an offer on it. I thought a short block would be cheaper than that - and if so, maybe he's got a long block or something cool.

Thanks.

This was for an 87 - so I'm assuming it's a 2F. sorry.

2200 for a new 2F does not seem outrageous at all. But then I have no idea what the list price is.

My understanding is the 2F shortblock from toyota consists of block, crank, rods, pistons. No camshaft, timing gear, tin, oil filter, etc. It's a pretty "thin" definition of a shortblock. and a lot of money for 6 stock pistons and a crank.
