Any one know who the moron was that drove east bound in the restricted bus lane just east of MEC at 3.50 PM and centre punched a green pickup. He passed me on the right at an insane speed. Browny wine coloured 80 with a SOA. Almost put the pickup into the bike shop just east of MEC. The driver of the pickup did not look to good, rattled his head on the upper door frame, as the pickup turned into a wishbone.

Bad day in the hood that day, I left my shop (8th & Manitoba) at around 10:30am, came back around 11:45 to find that somebody had driven into the sushi place just east of Main on Broadway. Glad I went home early.

That's the third time I've heard of someone driving into a sushi place, I'm guessing that due to the popularity of them they should start offering drive thru service.

did you contact RCMP/ICBC as a witness? I was outside the bike shop there a couple of hours later, bits of truck all over the road still. hadn't realized it was an 80 that crashed. did it look totalled? was it RHD? not a lot of wine colored domestics afaik.

Yep i notified the police as a witness. It was a wine coloured blur as it passed me on the right. the next time i saw it the back end was facing me it was too round to be a 60 series, could not see the front but the back was definitely SOA.

I think you mean to say it had a suspension lift. 80's have coil suspension front and rear, and a SOA is a leaf spring suspension term, such as in a 70,60,40 etc.
Such nitpicking could actually let the culprit walk. I know of one case where because the witness described a pick up truck as two tone brown, when it was some other colour or something, the culprit got off on a 'technicality'.

The reason i thought it was a SOA was the front bumper of it hit the pickup just below the right hand window, which seemed to me to be kind of high for a suspension lift. The pickup was a two wheel drive so there is a height difference normally but to impact it just below the window suggested a good lift.

.

The coil SPRINGs on an 80 are located OVER the axles. So maybe it could be considered a spring over suspension.:hhmm:
