Crankshaft locked?

When you can't manually turn the motor over via crank pulley something inside when snap. There's a lot of people on here that are giving you advice that have no clue what they are talking about. If your flywheel is missing teeth your motor will still spin. On the otherhand if your flywheel is cracked and somehow wedged again the bell housing it will not spin. Also if the starter is seized in the engaged position it is likely to not spin also. I would have your mechanic, before he pulls the entire motor, take off all the flywheel bolts and try and spin it manually via pry bar. And then try and spin crank again. You'll know at this point depending on what spins and what doesnt what kind of internal failure your looking at. Its basic mechanics. I am coming for 10 years of mechanical background. Try those things first. Its easier to take fly wheel bolts out then it is to remove the entire motor. But from the sounds of it, I wouldn't have high hopes of it being anything else than internal engine failure. You can also try removing the spark plugs and boroscoping the pistons. Removing the oil pan and looking for metal chunks. All of those are easier than pulling the motor entirely.

So a bit of an update. I got the car back. Turns out it was just the starter as I also had guessed. No idea what they might have missed that made them think the engine was seized up. Appreciate all your input

Just wishing I could eventually figure out the issue with the wheels which turns on TRAC during a turn. Locking the outer front wheel whether its turning left or right.

Ah, so the 2UZ engine still lives up to its name! Glad you listened to JerseyJim, we're all coming for your "10 years of mechanical background."!

Bad ABS sensor or damage to the ABS tone ring on the hub would be my guess. If the ECU is seeing the wrong speed from the wheel, it could do that, I believe. Do you see any codes with Techstream?

One time a mechanic said the suspension is so soft that it basically bottoms out and it hits some sensors near the shocks during the turn. Not sure how accurate it is. And this was a different mechanic. Not the same one who said my engine is locked.

Don't go back to that guy. :-) If the brackets that hold the ABS sensor wiring in place are all bolted where they are supposed to be, the wiring will not get in the way of anything. The ABS sensor is not near anything that would hit it, either.

Well that was anti-climactic. But congrats though!
