It looks like a crack developed this week, I suspect it happened with my wife behind the wheel as she was driving for a few days with the snow we had but either way time to get repaired. It looks to have been replaced before and has more wind noise than I would like so not sure it was done correctly the first time. Any suggestions on shops in Mid TN that have done a good job and correctly in the past? Also, any tricks to make sure the company gets the trim covered when going through your insurance?

Thanks

IME, the toyota seal is weak. Have the installer do a bead of silicone on the inside and outside of the seal. I spoke at length to my installer who I chose specifically because of his knowledge/experience with the 100 series cruisers. I had one that developed a leak and created a host of annoying issues. If no one local to you has experience, Safelite has qualified people, but talk to the installer and make sure they have experience. If not, ask for one that does. They will be annoyed with you but it works.

Call your Lexus or Toyota dealership and see if they will tell you who they out source their work to. A lot of the dealer shops have local glass companies do it...and if you find who they use you've probably found someone that has done a lot of 100s before. That's the route I took when my cracked last month,

Defintely call toyota or Lexus and see who they use. If the main a-pillar trim hasn't been mangled, it might be able to be re-used. I personally wouldnt want anything done out of the ordinary done on the new installation. If you are unsure of the installer, get the pages from the FSM on windshield replacement and go over with them beforehand at a minimum.

I contacted the local Lexus dealer and got the person they recommended, Terry's Auto Glass in Mt. Juliet. I was able to work with them and my insurance and got the windshield replaced today. Upon initial conversations Terry was very familiar with the process and we found that the previous replacement was not done correctly. They had left part of the rivets in place and put 2 screws per side and bent the trim up in the process. Terry was able to clean everything up, primer the holes from the previous replacement and straightened out the trim work. He did use screws in the previous holes but I was fine with that even though I know it wasn't per FSM. I am initially happy with the install, I am hopeful that the wind noise will be lessened from the previous replacement.

Did some highway driving today and the difference in wind noise now vs before is incredible, obviously the previous replacement wasn't done correctly.
