I am looking for a commuter car and naturally the civic came . From research, it appears that some 2006-2009 civics are prone to cracked blocks. Honda has extended the warranty to 8 years. My question is, is there a block #/year/make that is more prone to these than others? I really like the car, but if they are more prone to cracking blocks, thats a show stopper for me.

I don't know about the blocks,

But another common problem is with he rear wheels cupping on the inside. The upper control arms were too short for a few years and cause the tires to wear - sounds like bad rear wheel bearings. Honda issued a TSB with the part #'s for different upper control arms, but usually refuses to warranty them.
Otherwise great cars. We loaded down a friends with all her stuff when she moved 10 hours away and still got 35mpg going 80 mph while packed to the max.

Edit: just realized this thread is from last year. Things move slow in this part of the forum!
