I hope it's okay to post here since I am not actually a member of the PMC.

I am looking for some info on Cow Mountain area.
Next week I am volunteering as a HAM radio operator for the Sawmill Enduro race April 19 and 20th. We are going to be providing emergency communications for the event.
I have not been there and was wondering how difficult it is to enter from Ukiah and exit at Lakeport? The plan is to go in from Ukiah via Talmage road to Mill Creek road then connect with Scotts Creek road and into Lakeport. From Lakeport I will continue on to my place in Cobb.
On Friday 4/18 I was going to drive up in the am and go Ukiah to Cow Mt. to Lakeport and back to my place in Cobb . I will be going from Cobb to Cow Mt. Sat. and Sunday morning to work the race.
I am not a big off roader but more of an expedition type traveller and since I will most likely be going solo I don't want to bite off more than I can chew if you know what I mean. My Cruiser has a OME suspension and 32" tires. So I m trying to find out how easy or difficult this would be as far as obstacles and how well the roads are marked. I will have a gps and map program via laptop to assist me in finding my way as well as the BLM map they sent me.
Any help would be great. Thanks!
Michael

I did the Ukiah to Lakeport trip a couple months ago. Sisters little Rav4 had no problem even driving in the Red Mt area. I found it was much faster driving from Red Mt to Lakeport than all the way around through Ukiah.Hardest part is finding the base of Cow on the Lakeport side if your not familiar with that country. The road from the base up the first couple miles is getting rougher with rocks and ruts from all the motorcycle traffic but still pretty easy in 2wd.

ALWAYS be on the lookout for oncoming motorcycle traffic up on top especially. Been more than few head ons up there with MC riders loosing the contest.
Have fun

Thanks Guys,
I appreciate the quick responses.
