Hey guys. Been bumm'n info for awhile now and thought I'de share some pics of my junk. My first cruiser was a HJ62 which started life as a gasser, I swapped in a 2H with 24v harness. I swore I'de never buy another 24v truck but some deals are too good to let go.

Here's my new to me 89 BJ73. 3B2, H55F, RHD. All 70s are rare here but 73s are very rare here in eastern Canada. I had these 32" tires in the yard and they fit on very nice.

View from behind. I have the license plate light cover in the garage, built a plate to bolt it back on soon. The spare is a little low on air. :o

The body is in very good shape for the year. Rockers are original with a couple of soft spots which I'll get to this winter but all seams are original. The right rear door has issues, found a mint one in Nova Scotia but haven't got it yet. And of course the inner windsheild frame. I see them on cruiserparts.net in New Hampshire for $600. I could drive there if shipping is ridiculous. So until I get one, did the fiberglass fix for now, would probably outlast the truck.

The BJ73 ran fine for a couple of weeks, but now it's showing signs that the rotary injection pump is dying! :bang: I'de like more power anyway so thinking about swapping in one of my two 1HZ/H55F combos. They both run great. Here's one of the ex miners beside my tracker. The tracker goes anywhere so I won't be needing the BJ73 for heavy offroading, more of a trail rig.

Here's the second one, is this a record for rust?? Hard to believe this one starts right up too!

And finally here's the axles that were included with the mine trucks. The 2 white and red ones are for the 97' HZJ75's. They were completely rebuilt with brand new OEM parts at toyota for the mining company. Everything new. Looks like they were sitting for awhile. There's also a rear BJ70, front BJ housing and a spare 4 runner rear axle for the suzuki.

Last week I found 3 more 70 series. 2 Canadian BJ70s, just rusty bodies left with electrical and dash etc. I'm thinking of a LHD/12v swap for the 73. Not that I mind RHD that much but it would increase the value alot since the 25yr old status is just a year away! As mentioned in another post I also found a PZJ75 ex miner up north. I'm sure I'll find a home for that drivetrain too.

Anyway, that's my junk report. I'll be sure to post pics again when the projects start this winter, or even when I ad more collectibles to the yard...

I like your LHD swap into the BJ73. Add a 1HZ and you've got a rare HZJ73 LHD!

why didn't you like 24 volts?

You need to be on this forum at the beginning of the northern winter when the problems start coming in daily.
Its not that they are inherently unreliable ,the problem is more like getting someone who understands how to fix them ,finding parts and owners who are unaware of how to hook up 12v accessories.

why didn't you like 24 volts?

hj's are a special case where they have 12v radio and lights. 24/12 to one light and 12/0 to the other. The main problem though is that toyota discontinued all 24v relays for the HJs

but really for any truck, i can't think of one reason i'de rather have 24v?? a stronger starter you may say, but i always have more trouble starting the 24v trucks for one reason or another. and i competely understand the ins and outs of the 24v system, i learned the hard way...

But don't get me wrong, I'de take 24v over any american cruiser with a gas engine/4 speed combo ;p
