Most LC engines don't need that kind of work until 190k or 290k miles. There must be more to this story he's not saying, if it's not an outright lie.

By the Los Gatos address, I'm going to make a guess... perhaps all that work was done during the dot-com bubble when the owner was rich and dumb and now the guy is feeling a little broke. Stranger things have happened...

But it is ridiculous. And dumb.

Nice stock Cruiser. Prolly worth about $10K less than he is asking.

I saw that thing at Stevens Creek Toyota when it was there. I remember my buddy who works there was going to show me something on the motor, but it turned out to be an FJ-60 not a FJ-62. So I asked what it was having done, and he said the motor had a cooling problem, and instead of diagnosing it they just had the motor rebuilt by the local machine shop that they use, and replaced everything. The owner was asking if the FJ-60 was "numbers matching". My buddy laughed and said that Toyota doesn't even have the "numbers" to prove it was numbers matching. At the time I though it was stupid, and I still do. Nice truck though.

why would anyone spend this kind of cash and then expect to to sell it for that much? maybe someone will, but this whole thing floored me:

Guy is dreaming..... ....

The value of FJ60s, even nice one's has been on the downslide for quite some time.

For that price you could get a really nice 97 FZJ80 with lockers and power everything....actually I think that would even be high for an 80?

I can't believe it!!

I just got home from work, and what do I find... Cruiser owners bad mouthing there own kind. Don't you realize that WE are who indirectly control the value of our truck, monetary or otherwise. I have been asking 15000 in a local paper for mine for 2 months. I have recieved 9 calls. 9 of them. While no one has purchased it, I still have people call that were interested in the thing at 15000. This means there are people that think these truck are worth more than we think. Comments of degredation of value only damage our ability to resale for profit in the future. If we all priced our trucks 10 grand higher. They would be worth more. As far as I know, Toyota stopped making them and more and more people are wanting them. Supply and demand baby!! I don't mean to be a haterand I might be full of s*** if someone took a pole to see if the general public wanted to buy these old gas guzzling beasts, but all our trucks are worth more if we don't talk s*** about them. That is a nice truck (not as nice as mine)and someone, somewhere will buy it.

BTW... I may have had a few BlueMoon's before I got home tonight and since I have no dog to kick, I'll talk some s***.

He did get raped, didn't he?

toyota's are great trucks and i like them quite a bit. however, real estate they are not and the idea of raising prices to artificially keep everyone's ride appreciating as some sort of investment is pretty silly to be quite honest. unless you have a mint condition truck complete with pack slip and not more than one tank of gas through it - you are sitting on a well built but otherwise rusting piece of metal.

yournamehere - i hope you get your 15K, as you seem to feel it worth that. however,i don't think i saw your ride in the for sale section on this board which i would assume means that you know that someone knowing toyota's would not pay your asking price.

otherwise, i stand by my statement that both the seller and the potential buyer are ridiculous for thinking that truck to be worth that price.
