Does anyone have an opinion / knowledge or have used this Mile Marker PE8000 Electric Winch from Cosco which retails @ $389.99 US?
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Produc...=0&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1#

What i have been told is that these winches are being sold to Cosco by WARN but under a seperate brand name despite them coming from the same company WARN - so I guess exclusively for Cosco but made overseas in bulk.

A WARN 8000lb retails for $569.99 so $180.00 savings. However this one @ Cosco looks similar to the
TABOR 9K Self-Recovery Winch (formally MAGNUM) by WARN which sells for $483.95 US which is still roughly $100.00 in savings - the only difference is 9000lbs.

For me i would be using it for emergency purposes with the occasional attempt at getting me in somehwere that was not necessarily drivable.

My truck is a turbo diesel HDJ81 series fitted already with an ARB front delux bumper - so simply missing the winch - which hopefully is very easy to bolt on i.e. the Cosco one or if this one sucks then the Warn 8000.

I look forward to your responses as i trully have no experience with winches yet.

I don't believe that the Mile Marker is made by Warn. Warn did/does manufactur the Magnum/Tabor series. I have had several Warn models (8274/XD9000i/M8000) on different vehicles I have owned over the years and like them very much. I did however, go with a Mile Marker SE9500C for my FZJ80 as winch options are limited w/o modifying the ARB up front and the MM was $89 less than the Warn M8000 at Winch Depot (of course, checking their site just now I see the 12,000# MM is on sale for only $55 more than I spent on the SEC:doh:). Coincidentally, the MM PE8000 is listed at the same price you say Costco has listed. Never expected to stray from Warn, but $89 is like a tank and a half of gas for me:)

If you shop around, and can be patient for sales, you can find an M8000 for $480-500. Still $100 more than your Costco winch, but you can also consider: made in the USA, lifetime mechanical warranty, and field-proven performance. For me, it was worth the extra $$ - kinda like paying a bit more for a Toyota over something else.;)

I just bought a warn x8000i for 300$. One pull on it. Just wait and youll find a deal.

Unless things have changed, MM electrics were made by TMax. The MM's sometimes had bushings instead of bearings and cheaper switches etc. I've had great success with TMax so far- never had a bad Superwinch either. I think most complaints on the MM's is slow line speed.
Are Warn still made in the USA? I know they WERE, but heard somewhere they were outsourcing to Eastern Europe- not sure.

friend of mine has one on his(heep) works fine for him.....
