You probably right... as I never driven down to BC Mx.
I know there is a ferry somewhere down the line, Im sure I'll find it :) eventually
Thanks,

There are two ferries at least. One to Mazatlan and one to Guaymas. There may be one to Los Mochis too.

cruiser guy? Did you go? Let's see some pics...

No, I didn't go through the Canyon though I've been past there several times. I'm still up for it but my next window of opportunity is the summer of 2008. I'll be in Guatemala till then.

Thanks for the invite, however how difficult do you for see crossing the chinipas river would be next month, i know is the raining season, so it could get very difficult to cross!

How would you rate the trail from san rafael to cuiteco- to bahuachivo! I hear they have some small water falls by the monument !

The bado (River crossing) have just been fixed for this season, so unless its raining or have been raining for a while we should be able to cross.

From San Rafael to the Cuiteco the dirt roads are OK , the traffic its what i dont like sometimes, from bahuchivo to Piedras Verdes and then down to Tubares is gnarly but doable, this year i want to document the whole trip, ill post ...

Saludos from Mexico.

looks like you are going to have very long days behind the wheel everyday, with no time to even get out and soak in the atomosphere.

please document this trip and share the photos with us.

Not really the distances are very small, and the area is very scenic!

I am planning to go to Batopilas next month, however I am thinking in doing the cross from Creel-Divisadero-Temoris-Chinipas-Alamos

It seems like the trip to Temoris would be a must, and so is Urique!

decisions, decisions, decisions!;)

I was talking about the distances on this trip:
http://www.jeeperos.com/foros/showthread.php?t=48137

I would think that a drive between Mesa Colorado and Creel in one day would be a long and twisty drive. its not? and between Creel and Yecora, even longer. That is quite a large area displayed on that map, I believe. Maybe you are not talking about this trip. What IS the mileage for the 2nd day (Mesa Colorado to Creel)?

I have been through there on a train and spent a couple of nights there. it is very scenic. very. And I like the Tarahumara indians. Fascinating people. sounds like a great trip.

We plan around 6 hours per day, this time its going to be a large group, so who knows ...

From Mesa Colorada to San Rafael its about 3-4 hours, from there we hop on asfalt and 2 hours later you are in Creel.

From Creel to Yecora, its a long drive but its mostly asfalt with a REALLY nice 100 km high speed dirt road in the middle.

I usually go on different, lesser travel tracks, but theres alot of newbies on this trip and they wanna see it all, so its a trip for them.

We do another trip when snow fall in january, we take an old abandoned loggers trail, thats a nice 25 mile , 8 hour journey !!!

Saludos

I did that road on a dirt bike almost 20 years ago if you make it to Batopilas please take some photos of the town square. I remember 2 places where the Indians were still living in the side of cliffs. Hope you have a great trip.

I will strongly advice against doing it solo, specially if you go down the canyons, usually on the high sierra its no problem because drug smugglers cant do any growing at the top, at the bottom of the canyons its another story, on august they are trying to get the crop to the coast and on to the US, and everybody is jumpy. Use alot of common sense and do hire somebody on Creel or San Rafael, it will only cost 20-30 dollars, but it will be good insurance.

We always travel in groups of at least 3 vehicles, and so far have been lucky, but others have not.

Feel free to join us anytime, there is several groups always doing the route, try www.explora4x4.com on Ciudad Juarez they are a great bunch, and know the sierra very well.

Others have not neen so lucky?

Could you please speculate!

I however will take all this into consideration since I was told the same thing by another friend!

Thank you for the comments, how do you feel about transversing from Divisadero to Temoris Solo! Maybe as far as Alamos?

Thanks for the information and warnings, as of today, I am cancelling this trip and I may just join you on Sep. 14 in Navojoa, I will need to see my schedule for next month, but will keep in touch!
Thanks!
