Some of the coolant pipes have some corrosion/rust on them under the hose.
I cleaned the corrosion with emery cloth but what can I put on the pipe to keep it from rusting again but will not affect the hose?

Previously I suggested using Boeshield T-9, as I believe that would adequately suppress further corrosion. However, using any such oil & wax compound would likely obstruct the beneficial sealing that takes place between rubber coolant hoses and the metal pipes. With that in mind, I don't think I would recommend doing anything other than cleaning off the corrosion and ensuring that the coolant is replaced every 24 months or so.

Sand the corrosion down to shiny steel, prime and paint the area. Let it dry overnight before reinstalling the hose.
