Lost the rear, rf control arm bushing yesterday coming back from the FJ Summit. Come to find out it can sound like a bad front axle grinding noise, fortunately that wasn't the case!

I was going to get the complete OEM suspension bushing kit from Akella, figuring I'm going to need to replace them all anyway over the next couple years. Any other suggestions?

I'm having 4.88 gears done by Bills toy shop in Farmington soon, Will they need to drop the axle or not? If so I'd probably just have em pressed then. Depending on how much additional they would charge. Or if they drop the axle or not I may need to bum a press for an hour, anybody have one?

Can't help mate, all my control arms are flat and about three feet long. ;)

No reason to drop the axle for the gears from what I know. Pull the axles, drop the shaft, open the diff, and get to work. Ask him what he charges, it may be worth it in time and you not having to play games.

Yeah, from what Corbet said it's a PITA, so I'll probably just have Bill do it. With the shop and rite tools it shouldn't be a big deal.

Thanks!

Getting the 3rd members out is no big deal. Setting up the gears is not a beginner task. I thought about it as I'm always looking for an excuse to buy new tools. But for my daily driver I opted out.

When I eventfully build my 40.... Maybe.

I should have been more clear, I was referring to the PITA of replacing the bushings. I'll just have it done at the same time as gears.
It appears I have the caster correction plates, in which case I should be able to run OEM bushings correct?

i think that is true. You either go bushings to change the angle or run the plates but not both.
