So do I lose my man card?

:flipoff2:

No. It's a good rational choice. And the price was good. Relax. It's just a car.

Subtext; Cars do not define who you are. It's a useful machine for what you do.

"Never love your car, it won't love you back."

Enjoy your Prius, I have to admit, I've looked at the PrisusV myself. (But still driving my FJ62).

It's not an always or never thing either. Like the rest of life, it's relative. You get enough bonus points for owning AND WHEELING a 70 series to counteract the metrosexual Prius. My 45 similarly justifies the Chevy Trax.

Of course a beard would help.;)

I've owned ten Toyotas, starting with a 1970 Corona two door coupe purchased new, a couple of Celicas and Corollas, and three Land Cruisers. Still have the 99 Camry, my 85 HZJ60, and a 2010 Prius. Driven conservatively, the Prius gets over 50 MPG consistently, but more importantly, it has been the most trouble free Toyota I've owned.

its why we all get on here and talk about land cruisers, so we can forget about our practical, useful, economic, dependable beater cars. I've got a 1997 mazda protege that has never let me down. 35 mpg, can fit an entire OME heavy lift kit in the trunk, and the windows are tinted dark enough that no one has to know. You get to keep your man card, along with the rest of us. Let's just keep the prius tech to a minimum.

I look at my beater car as a tool, I look at my land cruiser as an adventure!

we might just take the corner off the man card, or is it a punch? I think my man card is stowed with my balls in a little velvet crown royal bag that my wife keeps....

I can see Prius parts developing as a nice side business.

Can you at least swap the wheels from your wagon to the Prius? Give it a little more personality?

Yeah... A Prius.

Frugality and economic realities require efficiency in the appliance realm. Will it inhabit me? Will it allow me to develop with it? I don't know. Not sure I am in a position to let it denigrate my allegiances and waver towards a future yet...

So do I lose my man card?

:flipoff2:

The idea that a "man card" is derived from the vehicles one drives is flawed. If it were, I'm pretty confident that the game would be over--I would've won it long ago. ;)

If I didn't live where I do, with the hill that I do, I would buy a Prius tomorrow. Mom and Dad have a LOT of miles on their Prius. It is every bit as centered in the Toyota philosophy as a cruiser. It does precisely what it was intended to do--which is be a car. It's not "fun" to drive. You just get in it and drive to where you are going. It is easy to park, it has enough room inside to be plenty comfortable. It goes highways speeds without a problem, without needing a gigantic motor to do it.

It's beauty is in it's mediocrity. It drives. It's easy to drive. It's simple to drive. While I can't call it a smile machine, it's also never been a downer. It goes. That's what it's supposed to do.

How many vegan stickers have you put on it so far?

I feel way better now about spending so much money on my cruiser, since so much of it's run through a band-geek owned business. I grew up a band geek and I am still a band geek. I guess now it's called a professional musician. My cruiser has been my ride to most of my gigs over the last 9 years. Thanks for the advice and knowledge keeping this thing running and in the process of being restored. Thanks for the hammer too. I had to smile when I worked on my Tundra and needed a hammer...a Toyota hammer seems to make the mechanic process on a Toyota a much more gratifying day.

Owning a Prius doesn't change what you already know. It's just an indication that you're willing to keep an open mind to learn even more. Prius on, brother!

Naples maine is not too far from where I spent the whole summer :)

Wells Maine

Been driving all over up there... And working on making a stupid trailer feel like a cape cod resort bungalow

Nice old house belongs to campground and is not mine lol
