Reading about the sticky drawer rear cup holder in posts like this one. Managed to get mine open and it is indeed a sticky mess inside, but I noticed that it’s not sprung to pop out.

The push-push reversing mechanism seems to work: I initially can’t pry the drawer out, but if I first give it a gentle push in, it releases and it can be pried out with a plastic spudger. But, it should be popping out slightly after the push, right?

Found this leaf spring laying inside:

So I think it’s supposed to attach like this?

But the plastic screw boss is broken on the left side:

Is that the constant pressure spring for the push-push latch, and is that its correct orientation? I don’t have an intact cup holder to compare to. I’m going to clean it up and try to JB Weld the spring back in, but I only get one shot with that, so want to make sure it’s in the right spot.

You are on the right track.

lol no eating or drinking in my vehicles but I still like everything to work

Well, looks and works a LOT better after a soak in Simple Green and a little hardware bodge to reattach that broken push-push spring:

You can see where both screw bosses broke. I’m guessing the open drawer got kicked closed at some point

I drilled a .110” hole all the way through the remains of the boss to hold a nut. It’s not much plastic to grab, I’m debating a bead of JB Weld to glue the protruding screw length to the plastic, but I don’t like undo-able fixes.

You can access that black bracket after pulling off the rearmost center console cover. It simply pulls out after you remove the two screws visible at the top of the drawer opening. You get easy access to the whole cup holder/drawer mechanism for cleaning and lubricating and you don’t have to touch the rest of your console.

Make sure you remove these before you start yanking!
