Swank-

I guess your sick of being broke down in Abilene...:D

Not much out this way but I will keep my eyes open. FYI I purchased my '94 over a year ago with 131K for less than $9,000...in PLANO no less...they are out there just have to look.

Hmmm...I like Gumby's LC transport idea.

If you find one in NorCal that you like, I'll drive it to TX for you...you cover gas and a Southwest Airlines flight to SMF airport. I could use a nice 2 day drive through the Southwest again :D

Jesus, you guys are nicer to me than my better half...

I think this will be a 6 month project or so. I'm not going to do like I did with the 60 and just jump on one because I "love" it. ("It leaks a quart of oil every tank of gas? The AC just went out? You've replaced a whole bunch of stuff with cheap aftermarket parts? Wow, okay...but the tires humming on the road and that 4 speed stick is the s***! SOLD!" )

(Doc is selling his for $3k and that seems more than fair - but I keep seeing them for $5k plus, and for not-so-great rigs. )

Yes, I'll be loosing a bit of money on the deal, but who doesn't loose money on a sale? Most of the 'money' I have in the truck is my own personal time and elbow grease. If I were to sell the truck for what I have in it in just fixing it up and wheels/tires it should really sell for about $4k. Hell the tires ALONE were $750! The spare is still new.... I like to brag that hunk up. It's really a very dependable rig. If I can't sell it I won't be at all disappointed. I love the 2F rattle.

Yes, the 60 series owners can be misers. I think it's partly because they are a classic looking 4x4 wagon, they never look old. Plus, they are getting old enough now that if you have one that's not rotted out you have taken good care of it and want to be compensated for that. I like the 60 series, but I need a lifted truck and lifting an 80 is so much easier/cheaper than lifting a 60/62.

swank if you are going for a 3FE 80 then hang in there for a real cream puff to show up. You will be able to afford it and it will be more than worth the wait. there is something that makes me go all shivery when you can eat off the manifold.

norcal are you shilling for votes again? that is a very generous offer. If I need something delivered to vancouver can I give you a call? The PCH is nice this time of year :D. Seriously, I can relate. the drive home from SLC with the 80 was a hoot and I would love to get down to AZ and NM again.

You're offering to cover fuel expenses for a sweet 2 or 3 day road trip to Vancouver and fly me home? Cool! What do ya need? :D

Odd: look what just popped up on autotrader... http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?c...th&advanced=&start_year=1981&isp=y&cardist=30

Price is still a little high, but I bet it would drop a good bit if I can work the guy. May try to see it soon. (It's white, too!)

I'll bet you could pick it up for just under 5K with cash in hand. Check out the A/C carefully. Unless its been converted to 134a its an R-12 system and the cost of repair work and recharging can get pretty steep (maybe a bargaining tool).

Swank, do you see what I mean about the A/C? That's not just a texas thing :D
