First, if this belongs somewhere else feel free to let me know! Just looking for advice, not buyers, at this point.

Background, though I love the GOBI rack on my 2016+ LC, I really don't need it. All that I keep on the roof is a pair of MaxTrax and a shovel. Maybe I will put something else up there from time to time but it is rare. Like once per year rare. And what I use it for could be done with another, simpler rack or possibly even factory crossbars. (Yes, I still have the factory crossbars in storage). I may look at ARBs new rack and get one in the "half size" version. But we'll see.

So, thinking that I am carrying around unnecessary weight I am thinking about selling it. But I almost never sell stuff like this. And I live in Central Oregon so there aren't as many potential buyers as might have been the case when I lived in Denver. It is too large to ship.

It is in reasonably good shape as the LC is in our garage when not being used. It has the moonroof insert and 2 removable/moveable crossbars. (I will keep the ladder and only sell the rack).

So for those of you who have sold things like this, any advice one where/how to sell it? Craigs List? Is there a 200-specific buy/sell forum? Facebook marketplace?

Thanks in advance.

List it in the classifieds here on mud and maybe on expedition portal.

I agree with @sdnative . You at least get serious buyers with mud and Expedition Portal. Craiglist and other similars you get a lot of wasted time. Low ballers and others that like to string you along endlessly, then just vanish. May take a little while to sell, but may not. The COVID-influenced market is still blazing hot right now, and with tax refunds for some coming up, it's probably the best time to sell. So many vendors in this industry have been struggling to keep up with the new demand, so plenty of things from RTT's, to roof racks, to fridge slides all have long waits. Mud and EP are also good too cuz it opens it up to out of area buyers. It's not crazy for somebody to drive some distance to p/u. Best of luck

Along with the above options, if there is a local chapter in the clubhouse section post up there as well.

Good suggestions! Thanks. Aside from camera gear I have only sold things on Craigs List and Facebook and I agree, it is a PITA! Especially with something like this with a limited market. I hadn't even considered Expedition Portal and had never checked out the classifieds forum here on MUD. We'll see what happens. I'm not in a rush. Just thought I would start the process.

Indeed. I have had soooooooomany bad CR and Ebay experiences. Somehow every single mud transaction (buying or selling) I've never had anything but an easy smooth deal

CL and FB are hit or miss, things can sell in under 30 minutes for asking price or you can get a crap ton of tire kickers with every trade offer under the sun or possible no traffic at all. I'd list it here, Expo Portal, FB Marketplace, and local CL pages. Cover more market and it'll sell, just be prepared to weed out the idiots and low ball offers as they come. It's a nice, sought after rack that takes entirely too long to get new so it'll sell. GLWS.

FB marketplace is the worst! You get 15 people sending the auto response “Is this still available?” and then never respond further, for every one person who is sincerely inquiring about what you’re selling. Yes, I have a strong distaste for fb marketplace. Sell it here, at least you know people are enthusiasts, not just wasting your time.

I think he said he's in Central Oregon...

Thanks, All! @John Guedry, sorry, I am in Bend, Oregon. And, no, this one cannot be disassembled. I'll make sure that I clear when I post it. And I'll offer pictures. Gobi are reasonably well known as they make model-specific roof racks for a number of vehicles. The problem with them is that they are made to order and they are always backlogged. It can take a couple of months. And they aren't cheap though I am not looking to get all that much for it. I do love the rack and have been very happy with it for nearly 4 years. But it is just overkill for me. (FYI, my pic to the left of this post show a camp chair on top of this rack where I sat and watched the sunset at Pacific City, OR a couple years ago.)
