I am trying to get the connecting rod bearing caps off my f engine. Anyone have any tips on how to break them loose? I have all the nuts off... just can't seem to break them loose. Scare to hit them with a hammer to pop them loose. Any hits would be greatly appricated...once I get em off i can head to the machine shop and start the fun of putting it back together.

Thanks for the help!

A light rap with a mallet will not hurt them; they get snug but will come off.

Try using a plastic mallet/hammer. If you dont have a plastic hammer take a piece of 2x4, place one end against the cap and hit the other end with a hammer. Dont try to hit a hone run, just hit it enough to break the cap loose. Might alternate around the area a little to break up the impact zone.
