Dont need wire mesh or re-bar for a parking area at a residence. Fiberglass reinforced should be all you need unless you need to fulfill the requirement of parking a fire truck on it. And 5 inches would be enough to hold the weight but thicker is always stronger. 3-4 inches for sidewalk, 5-6 inches for average parking, 8+ and reinforced for commercial stuff. I'm also wondering how fun it will be to watch moonshine tow the concrete truck out of your driveway. If I remember, the PO dumped a bunch of loose gravel over the driveway which is usually a good challenge for a big truck like that.

Well I will throw my .02 in. I had a concrete business down in Florida for a number of years. At a minimum I would use fiber mesh 5 inches thick with a shovel wide 10 inch footer around the edge. Shovel a 45 degree transition edge on the inner part of the footer. Make it look something like this...\__| Then saw cut it at least twice across after it sets up. Should last a loooooong time. YMMV.

Oooh, saw cut, good idea. I was thinking that a trowled joint would be tough to roll over, but a saw cut would be perfect.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

Wow! What all is included for that $2900?

I had a 28'x22' concrete pad poured, a 19 ton load of gravel, and a day of backhoe work done recently and the total bill was $2977. I also had a 15'x18' concrete pad poured outside of my basement a few years ago for $650.

For $2900:
- 10x35' 6" pad with 5000psi reinforced concrete
- 20'x4' apron to go in front of my garage

I'll do it for 2850 when I come to visit in mid april ha ha!
