I saw what looked like a really nicely set-up SOA 60 with some goddies for sale in Corrales. Didn't have time to stop for details but I can if anyone is interested.

See the for sale sticky thread.

Corrales FJ60 Two Words:

*FRAME RUST!!!* :skull:

too bad he didn't return Greg's phone call. I could strip his rig & put the accessories on my 'maybe wants to be a wheeler' 60... anybody catch how many $$$ he wanted?

It was Steve that called. I made a point of swinging by for more info but the owner was out and saw mw so we talked. Dude has NO idea. His wife bought him the truck and he's been taking it to some schmuck mechanic who has talked him into all kinds of errr "ugrades" It seems to have a NV4500 mated to I think an Atlas transfer case that then goes to some sort of GM rear axle (dollars to donuts the ratio in the front doesn't meet the ratio in the rear - he's never had it offroad). Then the drivetrain is mated to a rebuilt 2f (?!?)Owner didn't know any of these terms.

This truck needs to be put to rest as it's not a good platform for anything as far as I can tell.

Asking price?

Wait for it...

Wait for it............

Completely clueless. I would feel sorry for the guy if he didn't come across as a such a rich SOB with a useless plaything. Any decent mechanic would hace told him the thing wasn't worth the investment.

The rust in the rear frame wasn't surface rust - you could see light through the unboxed sections. The internal boxed sections had pulled away from the frame rail to reveal all kinds of nastiness. There was all kinds of body rot also, which had been repairee decently for the exterior, but again the interior fender wells where full of swisscheesse looking from underneath.

Ugly.

How's the body condition?

I happen to know of an 80 series frame that would make a great body and frame swap--60 body/80 frame-suspension-SFA-1FZ-FE-442 drivetrain.

:)

Hey--you're the one who planted the idea in my head...

Now I can't get it out!

-o-

I think Greg said somewhere the body was swiss cheese. I know of an '87 FJ60 with good body and no-rust frame for about $20K less than that guy wants. You could even keep the stock drivetrain until you work up enough courage to swap with 80-series components.
