What are most groups doing for trail communication?
FRS would seem to me to be the most economical and efficient.

That being said What are clubs doing for communication (on the trail)

I have been toying with idea of buying and installing a 10 meter mobile and having it tweeked to 11 meter band.
is anyone doing CB frequencies any more?

Most people here are doing the 2m dual bander ham radios. Well I want to say most of the norcal folks use the 2m ham radio. CB radios are still around I have one in my truck that I hardly use anymore because most people in norcal are using ham radios but I'll leave it in my rig just incase I might need to use it someday.

Many groups, Norcal, SoCal and elsewhere in the country are moving to amatuer radio (ham), but CB's are still around and used a lot because they don't require a license and equipment is less expensive.

Do both. :D

FRS is worthless in any rig noiser than an '80 series. And it is a PITA to keep track of the hand held radio in the rig. And volume is limited as is range

CB is okay at best

2M is the way to go.

I have tweaked Cb and 2M. by choice I never use the CB.
