Thought this might be an interesting topic and maybe useful to anyone new coming out here like myself as to what somebody might want to have on their truck as far as gear, as well as maybe the capabilities of the truck. Maybe just out of the experience guys have had on the trails just kinda the basics as far as should I get lockers, what size tires and so forth.

tow strap, tools, spare parts, if you air down, an air compressor.

Winch, tire chains in winter. I always roll out with food, water, and a sleeping bag.

X2
Be prepared to spend the night if you get in trouble.

Map, compass, know how to use them.

Fire starter with a lighter for back up. Flash light with extra batteries. Tire repair kit. Axe, shovel high lift jack. Tarp to lay on if workinig on your car. hat, gloves and toilet paper

Do you guys think for most of the trails you run, could a truck keep up while staying close to stock? Maybe just with some armor and good tires or alittle more built up? I know it always depends on the driver but what do you think?

I'm liking the list so far I think Im going to try and make a break down of 2 bags basically a truck and person survival bags haha

Waterproof jacket and liner, gloves, hat, bug spray, fire starter, flashlight, tools, strap and shackles, short section of chain with grab hooks, tarp, change of shoes or at least socks. Water and snacks. Tire repair kit, and compressor. Generally have a wire coat hanger, multi-meter, section of wire. 33's and armor would do most anything, lockers are never a bad thing.

I'm sure theres more...

Thank everyone for contributing! I'm gonna go ahead and say to run most things....

-33s or better
-Locker in the rear
-At a minimum sliders
-Winch would be nice but maybe good strap And high lift could be alternate for the cheap man.
-Basic tool set
-Emergency gear maybe a separate cold and warm weather set up.

Edit! CB or HAM radio I believe most of yall run a HAM correct?

Building an example list of the tools and gear today maybe you guys could give me an idea of what to add or take away

Pretty much on point. If memory serves, wrenches and sockets in 10, 12, 13, 14, and 17 will pretty much do anything for you on an LC. 33's (skinny 255/85R16 would probably look right at home on a 60) and sliders are a must. It's great to know that even if you wheel a bit harder trail, that you will still be able to open/close your doors properly. Belly pan or transfer case skid would be a plus if you're running a smaller tire. Locker is really optional, but at some point you'll get that one obstacle you SHOULD have made, but couldn't because the rear was spinning. Put a lunchbox locker in the rear, and you'll be golden. Andrew recently put a Loka in his 80. I'm sure he'd give you the run down.

A plan - where you're going, when you expect to be back.
Communicated to somebody who won't be along and cares if you're not back when you say you'll be!

I've lived all over Colorado. Middle June or July going up a high pass getting hit with icy rain or sleet...we finally learned we had to bring coats even though hot down below.
